Establishment of the Center Award

On February 4, 2012, a formal award letter was issued by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to Drexel University and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; this letter, in effect, approved the creation of the Center for Visual and Decision Informatics (CVDI).

Innovation Priorities: What Matters Next in Big Data?

On March 7, 2012, Drexel University held a workshop focusing on Big Data problems. The primary goal was to obtain a better understanding of what are significant problems and issues from the perspective of potential industrial partners.

This event was a two-day coding competition focusing on transforming "data" into health care solutions, specifically addressing childhood obesity.

Industry Advisory Board Meeting - Spring 2012

The First CVDI Industrial Advisory Board Meeting was held May 20 - 22, 2012. At this meeting, the Center Administration and the Industrial Advisory Board were formally introduced, center researchers presented potential projects and obtained feedback from industry, and the location of the next two meetings were set.

Industry Advisory Board Meeting - Fall 2012

At this meeting, held November 13-15, 2012, status updates (including a demonstration session) for the 2012-2013 CVDI member projects were made. In addition, the center researchers presented potential project ideas for the 2013-2014 project year, which elicited considerable input from industry participants. Finally, the potential dates for the next IAB meeting were discussed.
